Badanfhuarain Cottage

Ideal for a really peaceful holiday, this cottage regularly attracts walkers, wildlife watchers and those who simply enjoy tranquillity. South facing with its own fenced garden, it shares three secluded acres with our own home and the tiny 'Lazy Duck' bunkhouse, and looks out across mown grass to a burn with ponds and ducks and through pinewoods towards heather moors and mountains. A number of traditional features give this cottage its distinctive character, including an efficient open fire for which we supply logs and peat.

The living room (with dining table) is warm, bright and spacious and includes comfortable seating for 5 people, satellite TV with DVD, and telephone (no coins needed). The log fire provides a cosy winter alternative to a convenient focal-point electric fire. The cottage is centrally heated throughout with an integrated system of storage and direct heating, with timers and thermostats, with power supplied at less than half the standard domestic price. Electricity is charged for at cost on meter readings (no coins needed).

The self contained kitchen is spacious and well equipped, including electric hob and oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. There are ample surfaces and storage cupboards as well as all cutlery, crockery and utensils.
	There are three bedrooms, including a *double bedroom* (shown left) with a *single room* leading directly off it, (very popular with younger children)
and a twin room (right) which has a cosy curtained `box bed`with its own light and little window offering an old-time experience and a little extra privacy. All bed linen and towels are provided and beds made up for your arrival.
The *bathroom* has a shower only but is spacious and well heated. (See separate page on wheelchair access)	There are good drying facilities for wet jackets and boots, and safe covered storage for bikes, skis etc closeby. And if you really want to relax and treat yourself the 2-person *'Woodshed Sauna'* is just a few short steps beyond the gate.

	The garden is well fenced and gives Badanfhuarain Cottage a real sense of peace and privacy within the wider three acres.
Garden chairs are provided. The local red squirrels are regular entertainers -
	- just beyond the cottage garden Tammy the pony shares a paddock with our 12 free-range hens who provide wonderful eggs on request
- and for anyone who might be interested we are *British Waterfowl Association Members* and have established a small collection of unusual birds on the 'Fhuarain' burn, also within sight of the cottage windows, - including this pair of white-faced Whistling (Tree) ducks (right)
